Microsoft has released the BizTalk Server 2016 Feature Pack 2, which can be installed on the BizTalk Server 2016 Enterprise and Developer editions.
“This update to BizTalk Server 2016 contains new and improved capabilities for modernizing BizTalk Server workloads in the areas of deployment, runtime and analytics,” says the announcement made by Microsoft. You can read the original article here as well get details on how to download.
Microsoft releasing Feature Pack updates for BizTalk Server further demonstrates its commitment to the technology. There had been some unfounded rumours circulating that Microsoft was planning to retire BizTalk Server and replace it with Azure App Services. This is not the case and Microsoft continues to heavily invest in the product. The rumours perhaps started because of the scheduled retirement of Azure BizTalk Services in May 2018, which is because according to Microsoft, “Azure Logic Apps meets and exceeds the capabilities found in BizTalk Services.” Microsoft also states for the record here that, “This consolidation is not changing the BizTalk Server product.”
Back in December 2016 Microsoft had reiterated its commitment to BizTalk Server in this statement saying, “After our recent announcement of BizTalk Server 2016 going GA (General availability), it is time to start thinking about our next major release in terms of feature improvements and new capabilities for BizTalk Server. Microsoft has a strong responsibility to create first-class integration solutions for our customers, with solutions working both on premise and in the cloud.”
In short, BizTalk Server is here to stay!
