This year’s Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) took place in Toronto, Canada from July 10th – 14th. A notable theme was the fourth industrial revolution – or Industry 4.0 – and the expectation of how this will inevitably ‘change the world.’
On Day 2 in his keynote presentation Scott Guthrie, Microsoft Executive Vice President, Cloud and Enterprise, highlighted the cloud’s role in this and its impact on business in the changing world.
“We’re in the midst of a generational shift in computing, and it represents major changes for everyone, Microsoft included. And every organization over the next few years is going to need a strategy for how they go from where they are today to take advantage of what the cloud offers. Organizations are going to look to adopt cloud-based productivity and business apps solutions that enable employees to be even more successful and to reinvent business processes.”

He continued, “Organizations are going to look to build new applications that enable them to engage better with their customers, optimize the running of their businesses and take advantage of cloud-based infrastructure to achieve even greater agility and cost savings.”
