An Azure Active Directory Basic licensing option is now available for commercial use. Until now, Azure AD had only been available as free and Premium versions and the Basic option now plugs the gap in between.

The Basic option is designed as a solution for organisations with “deskless” employees or employees who use just a few software-as-a-service (SaaS) apps.

Microsoft has announced new workload optimised images for SQL Server, providing greater performance and simplified setup when running data warehousing and OLTP workloads in Azure. Designed to reduce IT administrative overheads and improve performance, the new images help organisations move more of their business databases to the cloud in less time. Microsoft today announced that it will release the August patch on Tuesday 12th. This month’s updates include critical and important fixes SQL Server, and the .NET Framework.

Microsoft has announced that it has acquired cloud-based business continuity vendor InMage.
Microsoft identified that “the ability to backup, replicate and quickly recover data and applications in case of a system failure”* as being incredibly important to customers and the acquisition of InMage provides this solution.

InMage software continuously captures changes in real time data, allowing businesses to instantly recover data to local systems or to remote sites. Microsoft is now working to integrate InMage Scout technology into the Azure Site Recovery service and has already announced its plan to enable data migration to Azure with Scout.
