In case anyone missed the small announcement in the Azure updates log, Data flows in Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse now support Reserved Instances.
This became generally available at the end of February and it means as your ETL pipelines in ADF and Azure Synapse get more advanced and extensive, hourly reservations can be set. This is done using Reserved Instance pricing options for Data Flows.
Simply:
- Open the Azure portal
- Choose Reservations
- Locate Azure Data Factory
- Select your type of Data Flow – Memory Optimized or General Purpose
