Azure Logic Apps is replacing Azure Scheduler, which is being retired on 30 September 2019.
Azure Scheduler is a service which enables users to create jobs in the cloud that invoke services inside and outside of Azure. Such as calling HTTP/S endpoints or posting messages to Azure Storage queues or Azure Service Bus topics. With Azure Scheduler, jobs can be set to run right away, on a recurring schedule, or in the future.
In an article posted on the Azure website Microsoft says: “Because Logic Apps fully replaces Azure Scheduler capabilities, Scheduler will be retired as a standalone service… To continue using jobs you’ve configured in Scheduler, please move to Logic Apps by September 30, 2019. We encourage you to make the switch sooner, to gain the richer benefits of Logic Apps.”
When creating scheduled jobs with Logic Apps, users can run multiple one-time jobs using a single logic app, and since each logic app is a separate Azure resource ‘job collection’ is no longer a factor.
With each Scheduler job being unique, a one-size-fits-all tool does not exist to migrate jobs from the service to Logic Apps. Though Microsoft is currently working on modifiable scripts to help with the process.
