Microsoft Defender for Cloud now has a new offering with Defender for Azure Cosmos DB in preview.
Threat detections are based on Microsoft Defender behavioural models, Microsoft Threat Intelligence and the Microsoft Defender SQL query analysis engine.

Though each database type does need a tailored and optimised approach, the security experience is standard within Microsoft Defender for Cloud. This means you can secure your SQL databases, Maria DB and now also Azure Cosmos DB databases all from within the Defender dashboard.
